If you have a sweet little one celebrating their first milestone birthday this fall, then this is the theme for you! Lil' Pumpkin is certainly one of my all-time favorite fall themes for a 1st birthday party! When putting this dessert table together, we definitely wanted to focus on fall elements in terms of design, and wanted to highlight these super fun pumpkin standees. So, we used this chalkboard patterned paper roll as our table’s backdrop and placed the single, large pumpkin standee as our table’s centerpiece. For height and softness, we added these two large, 36" white latex balloons accented with boxwood garland in lieu of a traditional tassel tail. We incorporated several traditional rustic elements often associated with a pumpkin party theme into our tablescape. We covered our table in a floor length burlap linen. To draw the eye downward, we utilized the other two pumpkin standees from the set of three, displaying the smallest one atop a large hay bale. While we certainly love all of the sweet treats on a party’s dessert table, we also feel it is important to consider all aspects of the design, including above the table and below the table for the best overall look. The centerpiece of our dessert table was this simple, yet delicious pumpkin naked cake! Often, first birthday party attendees are friends and family of the parents, so we like to suggest using a cake design and flavoring that would appeal to the greatest number of guests and then opting for a smaller smash cake or even special cupcake for the birthday boy or girl to enjoy and for a photo op. We added a single white pom-pom to a personalized pumpkin theme birthday party hat, displayed on an orange cake pedestal for the big photo op. Vanilla cupcakes were displayed on these custom, rustic wood-stained risers on either side of the pumpkin cake, dressed up with personalized "Happy Birthday" cupcake wrappers and a pumpkin candy topper. We served desserts on these adorable Lil' Pumpkin dessert plates paired with orange stamped wooden forks displayed in a single Ball glass jar. And, beverages were served in coordinating pumpkin paper cups. One of my favorite things about a pumpkin theme birthday party is that you can often reuse décor elements in your own home’s fall decorating. The pumpkin standees would be perfect for dressing up a fall fireplace or even outside under a covered porch.
